My New Ride

My new shoes finally arrived today. After being delayed for weeks from
RoadRunner Sports I was able to take them out for a spin. It's great to slip on a brand new shoe that fits your foot like a glove. The Brooks Dyad 3 is made for me. It's really accommodating to my extremely flat feet. Thankfully, the Tennessee Orange trim has been replaced with a more pleasing blue. :-)

Road ID Arrived

I recently received my RoadID. If you aren't familiar with them they are small ID bands that athletes use as a form of identification. Most people put their name, city of residence, emergency contact phone numbers and any relevant medical information. It's really a great concept and something that every athlete should consider buying especially if you do any training alone. Honestly, if you have a family it borderlines gross negligence if you don't run with any ID. They are very light weight and comfortable. I did a 6 mile run with my ankle band and didn't really even notice it was there.

Back on the Road

OK, it's the 4th quarter and the clock is running down. It's now or never for me to actually get in shape for the Derby mini. So here is the first baby step. I've always been a procrastinator and it's probably one of my biggest flaws. Yes, I know, I know. You can't cram for a run. You either have the base or you don't. Oh well. Not much I can do about it now.

Check Out This Beever

Someone sent me an email today with this guy's art. It's simply amazing! Julian Beever is an English artist who is famous for his art on the pavements of England, France, Germany, USA, Australia and Belgium. Its peculiarity? Beever gives his drawings an anamorphosis view, his images are drawn in such a way which gives them three dimensionality when viewing from the correct angle.

10 Things

We started a new series this week (10 Things I Hate About Church). As a cradle Catholic, this is not something I'm used to seeing posted especially by a church. Just another reason why I love Eastlake Church.

I will have to credit Eastlake for providing a much needed spark for continuing my spiritual journey.

Hoops Madness in Vegas

What a day! After starting my day with a 4:45AM wake up call, I spent the next 16 hours focusing on nothing but NCAA college basketball. That's right! I watched every game simultaneously on huge monitors at the Las Vegas Hilton Sports Book.

When the dust had cleared, I actually had won money by taking mostly underdogs with the points. We also hit a parlay with several nail-biters that went down to the very last shot.

Special thanks to Red Bull for your very fine product. :-)

Vegas or Bust

Heading to Vegas with a couple of friends to watch a lot of college basketball. I decided to try driving it instead of flying. It's only a 5 hour drive and I thought it might be cool to check out that part of the country.

Staying at the Sahara. Should be a blast!

Back in The Saddle Again

I got back on the bike this morning and had a fantastic ride. It's been awhile since I've been on the bike so I figured I would fatigue quickly but I surprised myself and felt pretty good throughout.

Now that the days are getting longer I'm wanting to start riding to and from work again. I'll probably hold off for another couple weeks since I don't enjoy riding in total darkness. And it's actually a bit dangerous as some of the roads are a bit sketchy.

This weekend's message was Living Beyond the Rearview Mirror. The band was phenominal as usual and they did Nickelback's Photograph which worked nicely with the message.

Every memory of looking out the back door
I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It's hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye

Be Strong and very courageouos.

My Personal Trainer

I bought a personal trainer for my road bike today. No more excuses for not working out because of darkness. I've been blaming my inactivity on my current schedule. I know, it's a lame excuse. So with March Madness quikcly approaching I should be able to log some serious miles while I'm camped out in front of the tube.
